Missing Home? Here's How To Cope
Homesickness is a real & valid feeling. We move on; either by force or by choice. In my case, it was by force. This is a photo of my childhood home; my best friend, my freedom, my foundation. In the most recent days, I found myself longing for home and becoming homesick.
While I may not be able to go back home, I can rely on things that remind me of home. (You can view that YouTube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n661O_HfFB4&ab_channel=TiffanyA.Riley-Dameron).
If you are feeling homesick, here's what you can do:
Gather things that remind you of your home. This could be wind chimes, little decor stuff, and even simple foods.
Journal. Writing is a good way to talk about your home. How did it feel? What was the environment like? You can write poetry, a book or even a short story!
Talk. Being homesick is normal, however, talking with a professional is recommended, especially to help you get through the feelings of loneliness.
You are not alone & these feelings will pass.
